This was probably my favorite section of the whole book. At the end you can see that the kids have really grown as individuals. Their writing is so much better at the end and what they write to the new fifth graders is really great and it shows how much they really respect Madame Esme. This was a really great book and her diary has definitely helped me to think of some great ideas I can bring to my classroom in the future. This teacher is a little cocky but she is a very effective teacher, and the children have grown a lot. I thought in the beginning of this book that these kids were first graders with the lack of reading and writing skills they had. Now they really look like 5th graders who will be successful. Even though it says in the epilogue that 16 of her 30 students were graduating, which is upsetting. Some may have moved but it definitely not all of them probably moved some probably dropped out.
